Dear parents, teachers, and students: I get it - it's the first day of school. Congratulations on starting a new school year, and thank you for filling my social media feeds with cute pictures of your lil' ones returning back to school with captions like "where has the time gone?" or "my girl/my boy". I really appreciate it.
However, I'd like to share what it's like to not participate in the back to school movement. It's. So. Freaking. Nice. Right now, I'm sitting here writing this post in my workout clothes, messy hair, no-makeup, and I'm eating Frosted Flakes. Delish.
On Sunday night, I parted with my high school uniform (ick), by burning it. I know I could have donated it (I am going to donate the pieces that I didn't burn back to my school), but sometimes you just need to see your past turn into ashes. I highly recommend doing it to any Grade 12 students. It's kind of therapeutic even if those four years were the best years of your life (which they were).
So there you go, a look into my first day in the real world - not like you really wanted to know what it's like. To be honest, I didn't know what else to write about, but thanks to all of your back to school posts I was inspired to write this.
What was your most memorable first day of school? Any embarrassing pictures? Feel free to comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS!
