Giving back not only help others, but also yourself. You're probably wondering how this is related to #WellnessWednesday.
I strongly believe that giving back to those in need is the perfect way to keep your spirit and heart nice and healthy. It's a surreal feeling knowing that you did something to benefit someone else. This time of year is probably the most popular time to make a difference in many people's lives as the holidays near. How can you help? Friends With Hearts is not a registered charity; they raise funds on behalf of Good Shepherd to go towards their holiday sponsorship program allowing them to support families who are enduring difficult circumstances and offer hope to the children who feel it the most. Friends With Hearts is everywhere from Hamilton to NYC making it fairly easy for anyone to be a part of it. Visit their Facebook page here. It is incredibly easy to think of over 1000 jokes upon hearing that Kanye West has been hospitalized, but mental health is no laughing matter.
Kanye was taken to a hospital in LA via ambulance and in handcuffs after an emergency medical welfare call was made. This comes after endless performances for his Saint Pablo Tour, two new fashion collections, and infamous rants about Beyoncé, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. His wife Kim Karashian was scheduled to honour her late father at a charity event in New York with the rest of the Kardashian ladies, but immediately turned back and caught a flight back to LA when she heard the news. I can't really say I am surprised. It was only a matter of time before he cracked. My mom actually made a good point: Kanye has made himself to be this larger than life figure, and now it's too much to handle. It also doesn't help that he doesn't have his friends around. I see this happen to a lot of celebrities. Like I said when Amanda Bynes had her issues, I'll say it again for Kanye... Those in the spotlight are human too. I hope for the sake of himself and his family, he can get the help that he needs. It doesn't matter if you like him or not (I dig his music, but not him), he needs all of the support he can get. He is very talented and very creative. It would be great to continue having his art be a part of our lives.
While the AMAs definitely have nothing on the MTV Video Music Awards, they are worth talking about. Usually I just write immediately following an award show, but I needed time to gather my thoughts.
I personally feel that teens and politics hijacked the show, but you can read all about that in an upcoming article for HuffPost Blogs. This post is meant to summarize what you may have missed or just want to relive. Below are my top five favourite moments: 1. Gigi Hadid's Controversial But Hilarious Melania Trump Impression
2. Selena Gomez's Emotional Acceptance Speech
3. Prince's Sister Accepts AMA For Purple Rain
4. Green Day: "No Tump. No KKK. No Fascist USA."
5. Drake Lip Syncs To Taylor Swift's Bad Blood In New Apple Music Ad
Find a full list of winners here (I'm still processing the fact that Ariana Grande won Artist of The Year.
Did you watch the AMAs last night? Share your thoughts below, or tweet me @MissSaverinaS! The 2016 American Music Awards are this weekend so I chatted with one of SaverinaScozzari.com's contributors, Dames Nellas. Dames is a radio host and music director at 99.9 FM Virgin Radio, award-winning nightclub DJ and producer in Toronto. Check out our chat below: Who do you think will take home some hardware and for which categories? Here are my list of predictions on major categories: ARTIST OF THE YEAR - Justin Bieber NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR - The Chainsmokers COLLAB OF THE YEAR - Drake VIDEO OF THE YEAR - Justin Bieber FAV MALE ARTIST - Drake FAV FEMALE ARTIST - Rihanna FAV SONG - One Dance FAV ALBUM - Views Are there any performers you're looking forward to seeing the most? Bruno Mars and Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande. Well there you have it, a guy that definitely knows what he talks about and I couldn't agree more with his predictions for the major categories. If Dames is right, that's a lot of Canadian talent sweeping up awards. As for the performers, Bruno Mars always puts on a great show. However, I'm not sure if Nicki and Ariana can top their performace at the AMAs. I'm sure they'll prove me wrong, but I do have my doubts.
Give Dames a follow on Twitter here and get to know him better as you'll be seeing more of him in the coming months. Films that are getting Oscars buzz are slowly being released in theatres meaning I need to get my butt over to one as soon as possible. If you're like me, you probably prefer to watch the majority of films that will be nominated before the Academy Awards opposed to after. So what should you watch this season? Here's my list:
Bleed For This Hidden Figures In Dubious Battle Wonder La La Land The Birth of A Nation The Jungle Book Loving Manchester By The Sea Snowden Sully Fences Magnificent 7 Arrival Free Fire American Pastoral Nocturnal Animals Moonlight Lion Maggie's Plan Jackie Silence The Accountant Now... This list looks large right now, but it gets exceptionally smaller as each award show announces nominees. It will be half the size after the Critics' Choice Awards announce the film nominees within the next week. It'll just go down from there. What will you be seeing?
