It's been a pretty good start to the new blogging season - so far - and there's so much more to come. I figured it'd be easier to compile all of my announcements into one post versus doing it one by one (and you get all of the excitement in one giant post). First, I'll be the red carpet reporter for Katie Uhlmann's TIFF party/Black Tie Fundraiser to raise money for her new series "My Roommate's an Escort". It's just as funny as you think! Check out some clips here. If you contribute $30 to their indiegogo campaign, you score an invite to this VIP party. All of the details can be found in the graphic above. On September 11th, I will be moderating a Q&A discussion at the Canadian premiere of The Frozen Goose! If you're interested in attending, be sure to grab tickets ASAP here. After having a great time at least year's Hamilton Comic Con, I will be returning to do interviews with some of this year's special guests. I'm praying to have a chat with Corey Feldman and George Wendt - keep your fingers crossed for me! For more information, visit their website here. I will also be returning to the fun Hamilton Film Festival and Hamilton Film Expo! I had a very memorable experience last year and that's where I met both Katie (My Roommate's An Escort) and Margaret (Director of The Frozen Goose). Get details here. And finally (as of right now), I'm back in the groove of doing interviews for YouTube, mostly via Skype like the one that I did yesterday with entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet (coming to a computer near you this Friday, September 2nd). There are some pretty cool people lined up to do interviews so you're going to want to subscribe to my channel here or keep it locked on the Videos section on this website.
I feel like this is going to be my year with all of these exciting opportunities and projects coming my way. It's actually a little bit terrifying that everything I once thought was impossible is now within reach. Ugh. It's that time of year again where the celebrities you love and celebrities you loathe come together to compete on a popular ballroom dancing show.
The season 23 DWTS cast was revealed, as per usual, on Good Morning America and I definitely have some thoughts and feelings to share. First, check out the list of pro and celebrity pairings below - then, below that you'll find my opinions (wanted and unwanted). Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Amber Rose Valentin Chmerkovskiy & Laurie Hernandez Artem Chigvintsev & Maureen McCormick Sasha Farber & Terra Jole Derek Hough & Marilu Henner Witney Carson & Vanilla Ice Lindsay Arnold & Calvin Johnson Jenna Johnson & Jake T. Austin Allison Holker & Babyface Sharna Burgess & James Hinchcliffe Emma Slater & Rick Perry Cheryl Burke & Ryan Lochte Gleb Savchenko & Jana Kramer I'm digging Amber Rose, Laurie Hernandes, Vanilla Ice, Jake T. Austin, Babyface, Jana Kramer and pretty much everyone except for one douchey cast member... Any guesses as to who this may be?! You got it if you guessed Ryan Lochte. If it was Jimmy Fallon impersonating Ryan Lochte, I'd be all about it. But it's not. Instead it's the real lying deal. I will give it to the Dancing With The Stars executives for selecting a cast that people are mostly familiar with and who actually classify as stars (except for Lochte #sorrynotsorry). You can see this all go down on September 9th on ABC.
What better way to kick off a new blogging season than with a MTV Video Music Awards recap?! It feels SO good to be back.
Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ariana and Nicki are just some of the artists that totally slayed. Britney Spears also performed (after 10 years away from the VMAs stage) and Kanye West was given 4 minutes to do whatever the hell he wanted. Both didn't disappoint, but no one could make half of the impression Beyoncé made. That woman is a queen and had me feeling like I had cheated on her after she performed a visually stimulating medley of 'Lemonade'. Rihanna was the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient and even performed like a bazillion times (exaggeration), but I still felt like it was Bey's night (she took home the moon man for Video of The Year and Best Female Video and most of the other moon men). Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé... Check out the performance for yourself below.
Rewind to some point in the first half of the show when Ariana Grande kicked ass on a spinning bike while belting out 'Side to Side' in heels. I felt really bad about my inability to do any kind of cardio for more than 30 seconds without feeling like the end is near. Nicki Minaj was bright and decided to skip the workout and also looked absolutely flawless.
Another moment that had me wanting to work harder on my fitness? Kanye West's new music video premiere (after a rant including shoutouts to Ray J, Amber Rose and Taylor Swift). Teyana Taylor worked the shit out of her gym floor in the 'Flashdance' inspired video and then magically turned into a hot as hell cat at the end... I'm still not entirely sure what happened.
I'm going to take this time to apologize to Britney fans in advance. Britney bitch returned to the VMAs stage after 10 years, and had me surprisingly wishing she didn't. It just wasn't the same. She was trying way too damn hard with her "dance" moves. If you really want to see it, you can watch it here.
Near the end of the night, Jimmy Fallon impersonated Ryan Lochte (Michael Phelps was in attendance and hurried to grab his phone to capture the amazingness that followed). He made every good joke you could think of after his infamous Rio scandal - including one regarding having a gun to his head.
Then, at the very end of the night, the whole world's dreams came true when Drake arrived to present the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to Rihanna, being a true charmer and letting Rihanna know he's been in love with her since he was 22 years-old. Was I the only one waiting for him to get down on one knee and ask her to spend the rest of her life with him?
Overall, the show didn't suck. Anything that happened in between what I just recapped was not worth discussing (well there was the amazing moment when Alecia Keys performed a beautiful poem in honour of the anniversary of MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech). This blogging season is going to be HUGE! I can't wait to share with you all of the awesome things that I've been working on. See you all tomorrow! |
