Here we go! I'm doing my happy dance after this morning's announcement regarding 2016 Grammy nominations as it means award season is officially in session. There were snubs, shockers and no-brainers like the fact that Taylor Swift dominated nominations wise, and following closely behind are The Weekend and Ed Sheeran.
I like that the Grammys are aiming to acknowledge the most talented artists versus the most popular/overrated artists. An example of this is D'Angelo and the Vanguard's "Really Love" being nominated for Record of the Year competing with Taylor Swift, Mark Ronson (and Bruno Mars), Ed Sheeran, and The Weeknd. As for snubs... For some reason, people think that Nick Jonas and Adele should have been nominated (each got 0 nominations), however I disagree. Sure, Nick Jonas' songs were at the top of the charts for quite some time, but I do not believe that they are worthy of a Grammy or two. And Adele: a) I think she's overrated (don't hate - I'm allowed to have an opinion), and b) her album 25 and single "Hello" are not eligible since there weren't released between September 30th, 2014 and October 1st, 2015. I have no doubt that she'll earn some hardware for her killer vocals next time around. There is not enough room to fit all of the nominees, but you can view the full list here via E! Online.
