Celebrity mentalist Bobby Motta has received rave reviews from some of the biggest stars including Al Pacino, Mike Meyers, Russell Crowe and Nelly Furtado. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do a Q&A with him. Check it out below:
How does it feel to be called "one of the top mentalists on the planet" by the New York Times? It feels good but I try not to let my brain sit on that statement for too long. I like to maintain my focus on providing my audience with the best show no matter the New York Times wants to call me. The day I lose that focus is the day I move on to something different. And I don’t think that day is coming in this lifetime. What are some common misconceptions about mentalists? Some common misconceptions about mentalists are that they are hypnotists or mediums. Mentalism is under the umbrella of magic but most people do not know what a mentalist really does. In short, a mentalist is someone who creates the illusion of mind reading, clairvoyance, divination, recognition, psychokinesis and mind control. To sum it up it’s magic and illusions for the mind.
What the actual f*ck?!
I thought for sure this was just some made up tabloid story when it popped up in my Facebook feed, but then I saw Anna Faris' tweet. It was indeed true. Last night she announced that Chris Pratt and her will be legally separating. She said that they tried really hard to make it work. They'd like to keep the situation private for the sake of their son. You'd never know that it was so hard by seeing the way they were together on red carpets and how both would gush about each other in interviews. Then again, they have a life behind closed doors away from the cameras. I'm not one for relationships or marriage, but even I lost hope when I read the statement. All we need now is for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard or John Legend and Chrissy Teigen to announce that they're splitting up. Then it's really over. Check out Anna Faris' tweet below: — Anna Faris (@AnnaKFaris) August 7, 2017 This post was submitted by contributor Kim Ruzycki. Staying well hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your health - it helps with energy levels, weight loss, fatigue, digestion, skin health and natural detoxification.
Think about a plant that hasn't been watered in a while - it gets limp and tired. Give it some water and shortly after it will have perked back up and look great again. You can use the same concept for yourself. Next time you feel really fatigued, low on energy or have a headache try a nice refreshing glass of water and then see how you feel... These days we are bombarded and over marketed tons of trendy "healthy" drinks that usually are full of sugar or sweeteners that aren't really "healthy" when you get down to it. Your best solution to staying hydrated is filtered, fresh water. Yes, this can get a bit boring after a while so I'm here to inspire you to liven it up! Adding fresh fruit or veggies or herbs to your water gives you a more interesting, flavourful drink. Plus it looks absolutely gorgeous! Why not try making a large pitcher for your next summer bbq or cocktail party? Now this technically isn't a "recipe" but rather an idea - I invite you to mix and match with your favourite foods (dare I say test the waters ;-) to create something you love or try any of my three current favourites shown below. It also works beautifully with sparkling water. There are no exact measurements for what you add - the more you put in, the more flavour it will create. Be sure to wash all produce before putting it in the water. As a bonus you can eat the fruit or veg after for a little extra nutrition! Enjoy! It's been a year since I last chatted with actor Matthew Sauvé for the blog and I recently caught up with him before he took off to San Antonio to promote "One Night Stand" at the San Antonio Film Festival. "One Night Stand" finds Matthew playing the lead role 'Travis'. According to the film's IMDb page, Travis is a successful businessman who meets his soul mate during a business trip. Fed up with his dysfunctional marriage he wants to give this unexpected affair a chance. Unfortunately destiny has a different plan. Sounds pretty good right? Well Matthew was so good in it that he won Best Actor at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival! Take a look at our Q&A below: Big things are happening for you since you signed with your agents Breann Thordarson and Jessica Martins at Hero Artists 5 years ago - is there anything you'd like to say to them? I have a lot to say to them, but I guess the best place to start is with thank you! I received an email from Breann Thordarson on August 2nd, 2012. She heard about me from a casting director that I apparently made an impression on at an audition I did the week before, and he thought enough of me to forward her my contact info. That was how my journey with Breann Thordarson, Jessica Martins and Hero Artists began. Now on the exact 5 year anniversary date of that email, I'm at the San Antonio Film Festival about to walk a red carpet for a short film I'm starring in, a role that I wouldn’t have come across had it not been for Hero Artists. Let me tell you something, life has really come full circle. When I look back at the last 5 years, there is no doubt in my mind that had it not been for their support and the ability to push me beyond my comfort zone I wouldn’t be standing here today. They truly nurtured my talents and believed in me in the early days when I was experiencing moments of doubt and insecurity about my acting career. Now with more experience under my belt, not only has my confidence and talents found common ground but I now know my worth inside an audition room. I can honestly say this is thanks to Breann and Jessica who have been in my corner since day one, no matter what. By the way, the loyalty and admiration is mutual. I am truly humbled to be part of the Hero Artists Talent roster, a group of talented and respected actors that are booking projects on a worldwide scale and doing it large! I have the best team in the business helping me navigate my career and I honestly feel the best is yet to come. Your work on "One Night Stand" has led you to a successful festival run - including a best actor win in India. How does that feel? It feels surreal! "One Night Stand" is just beginning it's festival run, so to win an award for best actor at an international film festival and have the film be chosen for the closing Gala at the Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, and now here I am at the San Antonio Film Festival...wow...it’s hard to believe. Filming didn't begin on "One Night Stand" until July 2015 so I spent that year leading up to being on set training at Robyn Kay Studio. To win a best actor award from a project I filmed two years ago is pretty incredible because I know today I'm a better actor than I was last year, and next year I'm going to be a better actor than I am today...as an artist there is no end point, you're always expanding ... period! And I just want to add one special note, Robyn Kay Studio is where I learned to be an actor. The three years of intensive work I did with Robyn and her students were pivotal to my career. These actors and actresses all have talent that is out of this world and helped bring my acting to another level. It just so happens that the majority of them are also fellow Hero Artists like myself. I couldn't be more grateful to have learned from the best. What's next for you? Training, training and more training! I want to diversify my actors tool box and expand my repertoire. I also plan to continue teaching kids acting classes, which I've been doing for almost two years now. It’s something I love to do and feel good about giving back to the acting community. Oh and when I get back from San Antonio, I'm taking my agents out for sushi to celebrate our 5 year “agent”versary! Check out what else Matthew has worked on on his IMDb page here.
Welcome back! After taking some time to look after my health and regroup, I'm ready for a new blogging season. Before we ended things last season, I collaborated with Locke Street Shops and Bill Meems Photography. I did a photoshoot at five of my favourite places on Locke Street. Each will get their chance in the spotlight on here through photos and Q&As with the owners. First up, we have Glow Juicery Hamilton. New owner Lina Canella had me laughing the whole time, as you can tell by looking at the picture above. She is so warm and welcoming every time I go in. Glow is within walking distance from Cable 14, so on filming days I'll stop by to grab a green smoothie and/or juice. The smoothies and juices definitely come in handy when I'm assisting on Hamilton Eats. Glow Juicery has a variety of cleanses to choose from, including a raw food cleanse. They're always researching and brainstorming new ways to suit the needs of their customers. Take a look at my Q&A with Lina below: What is Glow Juicery's mission? Glow Juicery was born as a simple answer to a complex question: What if we were to look at food differently? What if we stopped worrying about the calories, carbohydrates, fats and proteins in chemical-filled processed foods? What if we started to evaluate how readily available these nutrients are to our bodies… how they are absorbed, transformed and used to create energy. By confidently choosing the most natural, nutrient rich food sources available, we could then focus on achieving a sense of wellness, of fullness and true health. When faced with a sea of toxic options, we see Glow Juicery as a beacon for change. A healthy, fresh, convenient choice that delivers immediate energy, detoxifies the body, and rejuvinates the mind. A place our clients can turn to – through allergies, food intolerances, health concerns or just a general desire to live better and with more energy than they thought possible. Glow Juicery is for anyone that wants to eat well, live well and enjoy life to its fullest! How does Locke Street play a part in this mission? Locke Street plays a part in this because it's a small community of shop that are all independently owned with the same value... Trying to provide our community and city with great products and service with a personal touch. I love being on Locke St and I'm thankful for all the love and support from our Hamilton and surrounding area customers. Be sure to visit Glow Juicery Hamilton at 35 Pine Street and give them a follow on Instagram @GlowJuiceryHamilton!
