Finally, it's over. One reality singing competition show that has gone on longer than it should have out of many others is leaving the building.
Execs did everything they could to keep American Idol alive through constant judge switch-ups and naming pretty much all of America 'American Idol'. Don't these shows and the glory of winning something so major lose their purpose after 1 season? I didn't mind the show when the original three judges (Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson & Paula Abdul) were on. I watched more for Simon's lack of giving a shit about kissing people's asses than anything else. Once he was gone, so was I. Please note that I did make a consistent effort to rejoin the bandwagon, but it just wasn't working for me. I will give the show credit for producing some of the music industry's biggest stars including Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and more. There were also some winners who didn't last in the spotlight too long. Reportedly post-show it's up to you to survive all that comes with being in the music industry. American Idol has maintained a consistent fan base. I mean, why else would they keep it going for so long? I doubt the big guys would be busting out big bucks for a show not bringing a decent amount of viewers. I wish everyone touched by this show in any way all of the best. If it makes you feel better, you can always watch The Voice or one of the 50 other shows that are similar to American Idol. |
