Season 2 of Gotham and Season 9 of The Voice premiered last night, and newbies Minority Report and Blindspot made their debuts. They all sucked.
Okay, that's not true - however, they could have all been better. Or maybe my expectations were set too high. Regardless, I was not loving the first official night of fall series premiere week. It's not all that fair to judge Blindspot, since I didn't even watch it. I'll get back to you on it in this week's edition of #TuneInThursday. BUT, I did watch Gotham, The Voice and Minority Report. 1) Gotham Within 10 minutes of watching I ditched Gotham for The Voice because a) Ben McKenzie's hair is weird looking, and b) it just didn't capture my attention like every episode of season 1. I will give the actor that plays the joker some well-deserved credit. Maybe I'll tune in again when he's the main focus of the show. 2) Minority Report Based on the infamous sci-fi film, there is no better timing than now, in the Hollywood reboot era, to air the series. I have a major confession: I only tuned in to see Nick Zano, my first celebrity crush back when he was on What I Like About You with my former idol Amanda Bynes. He plays one of the twins (they have split visions of murders before they happen - one sees what happens, the other gets the information). It didn't totally suck, but I did find myself contemplating tuning out in the beginning. The ending left me wanting more, so we'll see how I'm feeling after the next episode. 3) The Voice I would have to say that reality competition shows are my guilty pleasure because don't like admitting that I'm a fan of something that has a big following (weird, I know). Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's bromance never gets old, and I am envious of Pharrell's effortless swagger. Also, Gwen Stefani is a waaaay better judge than diva Christina Aguilera. For the hour that I was around for (Minority Report started at 9, The Voice went until 10), I didn't have any strong feelings about the contestants or the judges. It was the same as every season. Sad story, happy story, inspirational story, Blake vs Adam, Gwen vs Pharell, etc. I will probably come back when the battles begin, as per usual, since that's the best part of the show. On tonight's TV agenda: Scream Queens (Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis) and The Muppets (don't lie, you're going to watch it too).
