Now that Canadian Thanksgiving has passed, I am free to get excited for the most wonderful time of year... Award season!
Though it's not starting just yet, the American Music Awards are a warmup for all of the excitement that is to come. Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth announced the 2015 AMA nominees on the Today show this morning and there weren't too many surprises. Taylor Swift basically rules the world, so it's not a shock that she's leading with 6 nominations, and The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran following closely behind with 5 each. Other nominees include Sam Smith, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Trainor. See the full list here. Now let's talk about all of the juicy details like what could possibly go down at the AMAs when they air live on ABC on November 22nd (mark it on the calendar). JLo is hosting, but I doubt anything out of the ordinary is going to happen. Let's just pray that she does a better job than Pitbull, because the American Music Awards have been painful to watch the last couple of years when he hosted. The only reason why they kept him, and probably why they have Jennifer Lopez this year, is because the award show drew in a lot of Latin viewers versus previous years. And even though Miley Cyrus isn't nominated, I really hope that she shows up to sort out her issues with Nicki Minaj (nominated for 4 AMAs). The MTV Video Music Awards left us with a lot of questions in terms of the feud, and then we were even more intrigued after Nicki's interview published in the New York Times. Don't lie, you'd love to see the two go at it! As we get closer to the show day, performers and presenters will be announced. Did I mention that I love this time of year? Do you think anyone got snubbed, or are all of the nominated artists deserving? What are you looking forward to seeing? Comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS! |
