Have you heard of Andre Bisson? If you haven't, no need to worry - you'll know everything you need to know and more after you read the Q&A that I did with him. He is an up and coming Hamilton blues artist who just released an amazing album titled Left With The Blues and was nice enough to answer a few of my questions.
What is it about the blues that you love? For me, it’s the feeling [you get] when you listen to the blues. It can draw so many different kinds of emotions. Whether the song is about the hard times in life, or the one you love doing you wrong, it’s something we can all relate to. Why didn't you choose a different genre? I feel the blues is where it all began. Though I have other influences (rock, soul, R&B, and funk), it’s important to acknowledge that all of these genres evolved from the blues. By choosing the blues genre, I have been able to expand my song writing both stylistically and creatively. Compare yourself today to the artist you were when you began. How have you changed? I have a greater knowledge of music than when I first began. Throughout the years I have been able to study music at a college level which has allowed me to improve my arranging and songwriting. These skills have allowed me to create musical orchestrations that were not possible when I first began. I have also learned a lot about the reality of the modern day musician. There is just as much work that goes into the business end of music as the creative side. One thing that hasn’t changed is that I still love the music as much now as I did when I first started my career years ago. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Andre Bisson is very humble and I love hearing about new artists' humble beginnings. What I would love even more is for you to go and check out some of his work and learn more about him at www.andrebisson.ca. Also, make sure to give him a follow on Twitter, and a LIKE on Facebook.
