It's been a year since I last chatted with actor Matthew Sauvé for the blog and I recently caught up with him before he took off to San Antonio to promote "One Night Stand" at the San Antonio Film Festival. "One Night Stand" finds Matthew playing the lead role 'Travis'. According to the film's IMDb page, Travis is a successful businessman who meets his soul mate during a business trip. Fed up with his dysfunctional marriage he wants to give this unexpected affair a chance. Unfortunately destiny has a different plan. Sounds pretty good right? Well Matthew was so good in it that he won Best Actor at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival! Take a look at our Q&A below: Big things are happening for you since you signed with your agents Breann Thordarson and Jessica Martins at Hero Artists 5 years ago - is there anything you'd like to say to them? I have a lot to say to them, but I guess the best place to start is with thank you! I received an email from Breann Thordarson on August 2nd, 2012. She heard about me from a casting director that I apparently made an impression on at an audition I did the week before, and he thought enough of me to forward her my contact info. That was how my journey with Breann Thordarson, Jessica Martins and Hero Artists began. Now on the exact 5 year anniversary date of that email, I'm at the San Antonio Film Festival about to walk a red carpet for a short film I'm starring in, a role that I wouldn’t have come across had it not been for Hero Artists. Let me tell you something, life has really come full circle. When I look back at the last 5 years, there is no doubt in my mind that had it not been for their support and the ability to push me beyond my comfort zone I wouldn’t be standing here today. They truly nurtured my talents and believed in me in the early days when I was experiencing moments of doubt and insecurity about my acting career. Now with more experience under my belt, not only has my confidence and talents found common ground but I now know my worth inside an audition room. I can honestly say this is thanks to Breann and Jessica who have been in my corner since day one, no matter what. By the way, the loyalty and admiration is mutual. I am truly humbled to be part of the Hero Artists Talent roster, a group of talented and respected actors that are booking projects on a worldwide scale and doing it large! I have the best team in the business helping me navigate my career and I honestly feel the best is yet to come. Your work on "One Night Stand" has led you to a successful festival run - including a best actor win in India. How does that feel? It feels surreal! "One Night Stand" is just beginning it's festival run, so to win an award for best actor at an international film festival and have the film be chosen for the closing Gala at the Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, and now here I am at the San Antonio Film Festival...wow...it’s hard to believe. Filming didn't begin on "One Night Stand" until July 2015 so I spent that year leading up to being on set training at Robyn Kay Studio. To win a best actor award from a project I filmed two years ago is pretty incredible because I know today I'm a better actor than I was last year, and next year I'm going to be a better actor than I am today...as an artist there is no end point, you're always expanding ... period! And I just want to add one special note, Robyn Kay Studio is where I learned to be an actor. The three years of intensive work I did with Robyn and her students were pivotal to my career. These actors and actresses all have talent that is out of this world and helped bring my acting to another level. It just so happens that the majority of them are also fellow Hero Artists like myself. I couldn't be more grateful to have learned from the best. What's next for you? Training, training and more training! I want to diversify my actors tool box and expand my repertoire. I also plan to continue teaching kids acting classes, which I've been doing for almost two years now. It’s something I love to do and feel good about giving back to the acting community. Oh and when I get back from San Antonio, I'm taking my agents out for sushi to celebrate our 5 year “agent”versary! Check out what else Matthew has worked on on his IMDb page here.
