What better way to end the season than with an interview with comedian and TV host Adam Growe? We chatted about his podcast, what changes lay ahead as well as how he feels about being known as the 'Cash Cab guy'. Check out our Q&A below: What inspired Pick A Number? Pick A Number was inspired by a phone call and a dream! The Executive Producer of Antica Productions called me last summer (2016) to see if I'd be interested in pitching a podcast for a network he was launching (The Antica Podcast Network). We had worked together previously on a radio program called, "Newshounds". It was a highly rated summer replacement series for CBC. I was going to send him some pitch concepts for the podcast. But, at the end of the phone conversation he explained that he had actually had a dream about me doing a podcast for the network and that all he remembered what that it had to do with numbers and interesting facts about those numbers. So, I ran with that and created an interview format in which I use a number to lead to an eclectic mix of topics to discuss with interesting guests. There are going to be some changes in format in the near future - can you tease them a bit for us? We are retooling the format of the podcast after 18 episodes in order to introduce comedy into the content. I'll still use numbers to get to interesting factoids, but my guests will participate in a humorous quiz based on those numbers and respond to funny questions inspired by the numbers. Not all guests will be comedians, but they will have lots of laughs in the studio. My friends were very excited that "the Cash Cab guy" (their words, not mine) commented on my Instagram photo. Is this reaction common? How does it make you feel? I love that people are excited about "Cash Cab" and thrilled when people still refer to me as the "Cash Cab Guy". It was such a great show to work on and I'm very proud of what we accomplished in 8 seasons! The contestants were fantastic and I can't blame people for wanting to be in the Cash Cab. It really was that much fun! It's quite common for me to be recognized by at least someone when I'm out and about. People are very thankful for a show that they've been able to enjoy in many stages of their life and watch with their friends, as well as with their kids, or their parents, or BOTH! I miss Hosting the show, but I've got some other ideas that I'm confident will lead to more amazing viewing experiences in the years ahead! |
