#WellnessWednesday: Benefits of Unplugging

I thought I was onto something  when I made "unplugging" a regular occurrence in my life until I discovered that there is such a thing as National Unplug Day (March 1st).

Technology sucks the life out of me so every so often I need a break. I take this time to  read a book or two, spend some quality time with my dog, friends and family. At the end, I feel so refreshed. The longest I've gone without any contact with technology is 4 days which is extremely long considering my phone goes wherever I go. Also, it's a little bit difficult to keep this blog up and running without a computer or phone.

My next unplug session probably won't happen until after award season, but I made sure to spend any free weekends ahead of award season away from my phone. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone. We're too dependant on our electronic devices causing us to miss out on what's happening right in front of us.

#TrendingTuesday: People's Sexiest Man Alive 2016 Is... Dwayne Johnson!

People
I couldn't agree more with this year's Sexiest Man Alive honouree.

The Rock is sexy inside and out, and it's been a huge year for him. He's everywhere you look! I live for his behind the scenes social media content, especially while he's been filming the Jumanji reboot with Jack Black and Kevin Hart. His interviews are never disappointing - anyone in the press who I've talked to have nothing but nice things to say.
Dwayne has a heart of gold, always looking to serve the common good whether it's paying a visit to fans waiting outside of his sets, or putting together the Rock The Troops special airing on Spike TV on December 13th.

I think that it's important for males of all ages to do their best to follow in his footsteps. He is so deserving of this title and I wish him continued success. Perhaps one day I'll be lucky enough to sit across from The Rock and pick his brain.

#MusicMonday (Not Really): 2016 Critics' Choice TV Nominations Announced

The first batch of nominations, the TV nominations, for the Critics' Choice Awards have been announced which means my favourite time of year has officially started!

This announcement has made me feel very confident about my TV program choices this year, unlike past years. There are also a lot of repeat nominees which I can't but think they'll win yet again this year. However, award shows always have a way of shocking you.

If I'm being honest, this chunk of the nominations doesn't matter to me - it's the film ones that I look forward to seeing. Usually, the Critics' Choice Awards indicate who will get Oscars since it's the last award show before the Academy Awards. BUT, this year it's the first award show airing on December 11th. It could make things interesting. Those nominations will be announced in a few weeks.

In the meantime, check out the TV noms below:

#FunFriday: Today We Remember

I don't feel right writing about my life or about the latest celebrity scandal on a day like today. Today we remember.

We remember those who have served in the past, continue to serve, and those who will serve in the future. We wouldn't be anything without them. We are so extremely blessed and lucky to have what so many do not. I know the world doesn't seem the greatest - especially after those US election results - but we still have so much to be thankful for.

We're still free to go wherever we want and say whatever we want, are we not? Innocent, brave people have lost their lives so that we could whatever we're doing at this exact moment. Never forget that. Take a moment today to remember.

#TuneInThursday: Mark-Paul Gosselaar Strips Down For Latest Episode of Pitch

Do I need to even write anything?

It's hard to believe that he's not the only reason why I watch Fox's Pitch - a fairly new show that follows MLB's first female player, Ginny Baker, and what comes with that. It is actually one of my favourite shows this season as it has a little bit of everything. I feel like Ginny is a real person and love how smooth the transition from funny moments to emotional moments is in each episode. I can never predict what will happen next, which is about the only thing I hate about it.

This week, Mark-Paul Gosselaar's character along with the rest of her teammates get naked to support Ginny following a nude photo scandal. If you have yet to watch the show, I suggest you start now.
