#WellnessWednesday: Presence

This post was submitted by Carlos Flores of OHSO Fitness.
It’s Wellness Wednesday and I wanted to share with you some insight about presence; not to be confused with presents which we all love!

Hump day is one of those things that seems to offer people motivation to get through the rest of the work week. You know the saying - “It’s all downhill from here” Well, it applies to the work week as people’s mood and energy levels seem to increase as the week approaches the weekend.

It’s okay to look forward to things that excite you; perhaps you have a special occasion, are traveling, maybe it’s your birthday? Whatever it is, enjoy it and be utterly excited about it!

Don't get caught in…

“Destination Addiction - a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job and with the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.”

What does that mean exactly?

Have you ever thought “If I could lose 10 Lbs I’d be…”. How about “When I get that promotion I’ll be able to…”. Perhaps “I’ll start that diet on Monday”.

These are all admirable notions but they all stem from the belief that we are inherently inadequate. Too often we get caught in assuming that the future holds a better place for us than the present moment. This is a trap and will only serve to further disconnect us from our own happiness.

Having the capacity to accept our current state while striving for better is a much better and sustainable practice. Be grateful for the abundance in your life, there is always something to be grateful for. Limit the scarcity mindset which is constantly making us feel like we are not enough.

One of the biggest promoters of abundance, positive thinking, presence and action is Oprah. Let’s take a page from her book and allow ourselves to be fully immersed in the present moment.

#BrühaCollab: Q&A With Kristian Borghesan

I am very excited to announce that The Saverina Scozzari Collective will be teaming up with Brüha, an entertainment discovery and ticketing provider changing the way people interact with their community, discover local events and purchase tickets. To kick-off this collab, I chatted with co-founder and marketing director Kristian Borghesan. Check out the Q&A below:

What is Brüha's mission?

Our mission is to be the one-stop shop and go-to place for anything and everything that's happening locally. We want to be able to provide a platform and showcase all of the cool things that happen around us every single day, that we might not have found out about otherwise.
That goes hand in hand with providing a platform that's extremely easy to use and streamlined for event organizers to create and list their events on our site. At the end of the day it has always been about connecting people to local experiences and answering one simple questions, "What's there to do in my local community?".

How has the entertainment scene in Hamilton evolved?

In so many ways! It all starts with the people who are at the very core of the entertainment scene and who really care about the long-term sustainability of it. It's these individuals and their creative minds who are always looking for new ways to collaborate with others, making it such an inclusive industry - in my opinion, that's what's really been the catalyst. You add that up with all of the investment we've been seeing in the industry (especially new venues)
and there you have yourself one booming community.

Where do you see Brüha going in the future?

We have so many big things planned for the future, it's really an exciting (and challenging) time for us! In the next 1-2 years we'll be focusing on driving national growth all across Canada with plans of dipping into the US market after 2-3 years. To do that, we'll be taking what we've already been working on and bringing into the mix a few new bigger concepts and programs that will help us achieve the scalability and sustainability as a company. I can't say too much at
this time, but we're slowly working on incorporating a lot of machine learning into the discovery side of things. The goal of this is to make the best recommendations we possibly can and connect individuals to local experiences. In addition to that, we're also mapping out a new program (name to be determined), which essentially brings your traditional event promoting model (ie., an event organizer hiring 4-5 individuals to sell tickets for them) to an online, centralized place. Everything we're working on is focused on our core values as a company: to increase ticket sales for event organizers and to help event-goers discover relevant and unique experiences.

ABC
From the beginning I knew this was a bad idea.

That feeling followed me as I took an extra long nap and missed out on watching ABC's remake of Dirty Dancing last night. Thankfully, Twitter had a lot to say. To sum it up, it wasn't good.

Check out some of the tweets below:

Everyone on my timeline is asking why ABC didn't cast better dancers.
Answer: real dancers know that you don't mess with #DirtyDancing

I think Abigail Breslin had better dance moves when she was 11 and doing a striptease to "SuperFreak" #DirtyDancing pic.twitter.com/LG5zrgOyB2

Little sister Pippa Middleton walked down the isle and became a Mrs. to her love.

Like many women about to share in the biggest day of their life, she wanted to be ready. She pulled out all the whistles too. Pippa is a client of London's leading health, wellness and lifestyle club Grace Belgravia. This facility is lead by some of the top professionals in the Health and Fitness Industry.  Providing endless resources in treatment to accommodate all elements and chapters of once wellness journey. It is said that Pippa has been working with a PT 5x, placing focus on cardio and pilates. Using body weight training to compound her results versus isolation training. She has been committed to a specialize and individualize meal plan and her diet has never been healthier. She is in it to win it, even refusing wine for the last few months leading up to her big day.

A wedding is huge motivator for lots of women, never mind a high profile one of luxury like this one. As glamorous as her journey may be and filled with endless resources there is one thing to take home here. No matter what walk of life you are on. It comes down to how bad to you want it. What are you willing to do to build your dream day.  Pippa put all her eggs in one basket to be in the best shape of her life. She committed and looks amazing for it.  Hold value for what is true to you.

One last thing... How amazing is that dress?

When will it end?

Innocent people, mostly young children and their loved ones, were at Manchester Arena last night to see their idol Ariana Grande perform before the unimaginable occurred. A bomb went off at the end of the concert killing 22 and leaving over 50 injured.

Ariana and her team have broken their silence via social media.

Please keep all of those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts. Also, this is to be taken seriously. There are some people who have horrible timing, using a heartbreaking event to attempt to show off their comedic chops. Not cool. We need more positivity and sureness that we are safe, not negativity and hate.
