A few weeks ago, I had the chance to chat with actress Anastasia Marinina - known for Polar, Taken (2017) and Below Her Mouth (2016). Anastasia is one of the sweetest people I've interviewed and her answers are guaranteed to crack you up. Check out our Q&A below: What has been the highlight of your career? I recently was working on upcoming Netflix project called Polar. It’s directed by Jonas Åkerlund, an amazing Swedish Director. He is by far one of my favorite people that I worked with. He gives you the freedom to truly express yourself as an artist and put your instincts to work. His calm energy makes you feel very comfortable and confident. The entire Polar team was just in synch, it was one of those rare moments where all the cast and crew just got along and were all on the same page. At the end of the day we all want to make a good project that people will hopefully enjoy. Working with Mads Mikkelsen - who has reached an amazing level in his career, and truly taught me what it’s like to be a professional in this industry - I had the chance to stand back and watch him do what he does best. It was such a gift for me to see that from a different point of view. This whole experience made me grow as an actor and made me look at things differently and I look forward to someday working with this amazing team again. Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? Wow this question takes me back to my High School days, haha. Lately - I find that planning things out doesn’t always work. Sometimes you just have to let things be and trust that the universe will work everything out the way you want it to. Of course there are wants and needs that a human being desires. I would love to move out of the city and into the rural country somewhere. I want that small little cozy bungalow home, two massive dogs, a garden, tree house and all that country life with the family. Oh.....and I can’t forget a nice big fat delicious meal and finish it off with amazing dessert, haha! The simplicity of living is everything to me. As my career progresses, I want to be part of great projects that are both inspirational and entertaining and that connect with audiences on a global level. To be at that certain level of my career where the struggle to make it becomes less and less would be nice too. How do you define success? Success to me is simply being happy. I think if you find what makes you truly happy and you continue doing it, you will be or become successful. At the end of the day, it’s about pleasing yourself and not others because everything starts with you. If you’re happy as a person you can do really well in everything. You will always stay focused and motivated and push yourself to do even better. You will be in a better mood, happier and genuinely be nice to people. Your happiness reflects on everything and everyone in your life. The ultimate success is finding that balance in life. I think it’s the most difficult part of being human. If you can truly find that balance between what’s important to you, then you are successful no matter what . For more on Anastasia, check out her IMDb page here.
