Time for an exciting announcement... I'm going to be one of the reporters for Cable 14's Doors Open Live!
On May 7th, the station is opening their doors to the public again (part of Doors Open Hamilton) and letting them see the magic of TV from behind-the-scenes. If you recall, I was a part of the Speakers Corner at last year's open house and had the chance to give people a taste of what it's like to be interviewed. This year, I'm going on-location over the next few weeks to quite a few places taking part in Doors Open to host segments that will be airing on the day of the open house on a show called Doors Open Live. Oh, I forgot to mention that other volunteer hosts will be live from the studio for most of the day. I've also taped some promos for both the event and a contest for a deserving mom to get a makeover. To nominate someone, click here. For more details about the event, check this out: Finally, it's over. One reality singing competition show that has gone on longer than it should have out of many others is leaving the building.
Execs did everything they could to keep American Idol alive through constant judge switch-ups and naming pretty much all of America 'American Idol'. Don't these shows and the glory of winning something so major lose their purpose after 1 season? I didn't mind the show when the original three judges (Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson & Paula Abdul) were on. I watched more for Simon's lack of giving a shit about kissing people's asses than anything else. Once he was gone, so was I. Please note that I did make a consistent effort to rejoin the bandwagon, but it just wasn't working for me. I will give the show credit for producing some of the music industry's biggest stars including Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and more. There were also some winners who didn't last in the spotlight too long. Reportedly post-show it's up to you to survive all that comes with being in the music industry. American Idol has maintained a consistent fan base. I mean, why else would they keep it going for so long? I doubt the big guys would be busting out big bucks for a show not bringing a decent amount of viewers. I wish everyone touched by this show in any way all of the best. If it makes you feel better, you can always watch The Voice or one of the 50 other shows that are similar to American Idol. Saying that these past few weeks have been stressful is an understatement.
I'm sad to report that I've turned to shitty things to cope. I've traded in my workouts for naps and netflix and junk food binge sessions. I'm not proud of this, but I'm not going to hide it. It's part of being human and proves that making a lifestyle change is easier said than done. There are a lot of bumps along the road - for me they can be found in all aspects of my life (personal, health and work). I'm glad to have so many opportunities at work, however my health (mental and physical) seem to be getting in the way. Mentally, I'm dealing with the daily struggle of anxiety, and physically I have things that I've been dealing with my whole life. Emotionally, I'm a hot mess. I used to refer to myself as Elsa from Disney's Frozen because I didn't have any feelings. This past weekend, I felt all of the feelings all at the same time! It was terrifying and just created more stress. To cope with all of this, I've been turning to Peppermint Java Chip Frappuccinos from Starbucks and one or two boxes of Girl Guide cookies (damn kiddos). I know I should have made some tea, taken some time to breathe, etc... But I didn't. I've fallen off the wagon and know that I need to get back on. I also know that I will continue to fall off because that's the way life works. It's a bitch, though we get to choose how we deal with it. Well, I guess Blac Chyna isn't going anywhere for a while in terms of the entertainment news spotlight. Ugh.
After three months of dating, Rob Kardashian popped the question to his lady love. He's not the first to commit unusually fast as his sisters Kim (three times) and Khloe (once) didn't take their time either. Let's just hope he has better relationship luck. Perhaps he felt the need to put a ring on it because Blac Chyna has saved his life since being diagnosed with diabetes. Or it's the booty that he gives a lot of attention to on Snapchat. Who knows. I hope that they're taking this seriously, and that good health and happiness is in their future. Now that award season has been long over, the wannabes have come out to play. Last night was pretty huge for these guys as three of them were in the spotlight at the exact same time. I didn't watch any of them, two by choice.
We had the Academy of Country Music Awards, the JUNOs, and the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The ACMs and the JUNOs were a write-off in my mind as I'm not the biggest country music fan and the JUNOs often tend to be disappointing. The iHeartRadio Music Awards however, definitely captured my attention. Only problem was that I couldn't find it on my TV. I missed out on Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Adam Levine, DNCE and more stars. I don't know if it was only an online thing, or maybe it only aired in the U.S. Because of this tragedy, I ended up "adulting" a.k.a. being productive. Did you have a chance to tune in to any of these? Let me know in the comments of tweet me @MissSaverinaS! |
