That's a wrap on the mediocre 2016 Grammys. Every performance and speech felt the exact same with the exception of a few. LL Cool J hosted for the 5th and hopefully the last time. All the lip licking is too much for me. Before we get to the highlights and some shade, take a look at the night's fashion hits and misses. Best Dressed: Worst Dressed: Okay, now it's DRAMA TIME! If you recall, Kanye West dissed Taylor Swift and took credit for her fame in his latest track Famous that premiered at his NYFW Yeezy SZN 3 show last week. A lot of people weren't happy, including Taylor. How do I know that? Well, when Taylor was accepting a GRAMMY for Album of the Year (1989), she told everyone if someone takes credit for your work or for your fame, "Someday when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you". Oof. The rest of the night consisted of multiple performances, too many to count and not worth talking about. There were only three that stuck in my mind: 1) Lionel Richie Tribute - At first, I was losing sleep over this when I found out John Legend, Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor, Luke Bryan and Tyrese were performing. I had an open mind about John Legend. The rest... Not so much. Well, turns out Demi Lovato slayed with her rendition of Hello. The other performers get a 3/10 from me. I'm being generous. 2) Kendrick Lamar - One to make a statement and known to kill it on the GRAMMYs stage, Kendrick owned the show with a politically-charged performance. 3) Lady Gaga's David Bowie Tribute - I feel like he rose from the dead. Bonus highlight was Sofia Vergara dancing on stage dressed like a taxi with Pitbull as part of the finale (a totally suckish finale might I add). I feel like Queen Bey should have ended the night, whatever. A funny and sad at the same time moment was Stevie Wonder presenting the award for Song of the Year. Let me remind you that he cannot see, so reading the name of the winner was literally impossible. He poked fun at it and requested that more be done for those with disabilities. Additional moments that people will talk about probably include Meghan Trainor's impression of Niagara Falls and the audio issues during Adele's performance.
Behind the scenes drama ensued when Lauryn Hill backed out of her highly publicized performance with The Weeknd which he ended up killing solo. According to her reps, the GRAMMYs advertised it prematurely and without permission/confirmation. Another boo hoo moment was when the world found out Rihanna has bronchitis and was recommended by an on-site doctor to pull the plug on her performance. Sad day. I'm sure you're all well aware of what this Sunday is... Singles Awareness Day (better known as Valentines Day).
When you think of the typical single person on Valentines Day you picture one of the Sex And The City characters drowning her love sorrows with the help of endless cosmos, ice cream or both. Well, guess what?! The majority of single people in the real world are H-A-P-P-Y (or at least I am)! Being locked down isn't something that everyone aspires to do. Maybe their career takes priority over finding 'prince charming' or they simply just don't do the love thing. To each their own. To be completely honest, and not because I am a hater, but V-Day is a total money grab. It's cheesy, but if you really love someone you shouldn't need heart shaped everything to acknowledge their existence and greatness. You should say (or show) the three magic words because you want to, not because it's marked down on your calendar. My perfect Valentines Day took place last year when my mom bought me a heart shaped loaf of bread (carbs are the way to my heart in case you were wondering). I will be celebrating Singles' Awareness Day this weekend with my family and pooch not because it's a special day, but because that's what I do pretty much everyday of my life. End of rant. What are you up to this weekend? Comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS! This kid is making all of us Canadians proud as he kills the world with cuteness this award season. I envy Room star Jacob Tremblay's charm and great personality, but it's not fair to hate on a child. From his killer dance moves at the Critics' Choice Awards afterparty to his priceless talk show interviews, he truly is the star of the 2015/2016 award season. Need more proof? Check out go-to red carpet faces that he was kind enough to show off on Conan. Is Mr. Tremblay melting your heart too? Comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS!
I had to find a way to somehow tie #SavsFitJourney and celebrities together. This is the result.
This journey is about feeling good and not about looking a certain way, BUT I am pretty sure we all have that one celebrity that inspires us to be more fit. For me, it's Kate Hudson. Kate is my fitspiration because even though she's one of the busiest human beings on the planet, she still manages to make time and effort to look after herself. Brian (trainer that I've teamed up with from Momentum Fitness) said to take our fitspiration(s) and try to be more like them. Kate Hudson probably eats healthy and there are plenty of pictures that display her love for working out on a daily basis. If I lived like her for a month, I'd be a hell of a lot healthier. What I want you to take out of this is to live like the people you admire. Or at least make an effort to make baby steps towards living like them. There is no easy way to do it. It's just a matter of starting and keeping with it. I've got the workout part going for me, but I really need to clean up my act when it comes to eating healthy. Who's your fitspiration? Comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS! Four celebrities you would have never even dreamed of teaming up together are doing just that on the Grammys stage.
Demi Lovato, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan are set to pay tribute to Lionel Richie on Monday, February 15th. Richie will later join them to perform one of his classics. I feel like this was done already, but I can't remember which award show did it (yes, I know I need to step up my game). Regardless, I'm super pumped and dancing and singing to "All Night Long" right now (multitasking at its very best). And how amazing would it be if John Legend and Meghan Trainer performed "Endless Love"? It would be even more amazing if Luke Bryan and Demi Lovato performed the classic. It will most definitely be one of many epic moments that will occur that night. How do you feel about this tribute? Would you have different performers sing Lionel Richie's classics?
