Here is another article written by moi that was published in The Huffington Post:
I am back to profess my love for 2016 Oscar Best Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio. Yes, that's right. Leo got a nomination (picture an 18 year-old that could easily be mistaken for a 12-year-old dancing and singing at her desk at work). Obviously there are other nominees, but who gives a crap? Nah, I kid. I love them all equally (maybe). The nomination list has probably made its way into your life in one form or another, whether it be via a series of live-tweets from a room filled with members of the press or articles filled with obnoxious opinions (read: this one). So, I figured that I would take this opportunity to share my thoughts slash predictions for the upcoming Academy Awards. I certainly have a lot of movie binge-watching to do because I have only seen one of the Best Picture nominees -- The Big Short. And I kind of regret it because I have my doubts about its worthiness of an Oscar compared to its competition. I am thinking that it will be between The Revenant and The Martian because former won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Drama and the latter won a Golden Globe Best Motion Picture Comedy/Musical (still don't understand it -- there are reports that it was set that way so that Matt Damon and The Martian would have a chance along with Leo). This time, they are going head-to-head in the same category. It could get pretty ugly between two of Hollywood's most beautiful men. Then we have the Best Actor category. I am saying my prayers because this could be anyone's game. I mean, the obvious choice would be Leo, but we have the same problem as the Best Picture category -- Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio won Golden Globes for Best Actor in their respective categories. If you are wondering, yes, I am cringing as I write this. The Best Actress nominees are a tad easier to swallow, but like it was for the Best Actor nominees at the Golden Globes, there isn't room for two winners, so Jennifer Lawrence and Brie Larson will be pitted against one another. I am team JLaw all the way, because she is "normal." She says whatever comes to mind and does not give a care in the world if you agree or disagree. Perhaps she'll arrive with BFF Amy Schumer on hand. Imagine those red carpet interviews. A girl can only dream. Do not be mistaken: the competition for supporting roles is pretty tight. You have actors and actresses who have been at their craft for centuries (slight exaggeration), and then you have the young bloods. I can say with almost 100 per cent certainty that the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor is going to Rocky -- err, I mean Sylvester Stallone. Then we can hear him thank his "best imaginary friend" again (Golden Globes reference). Although it would be nice to see Kate Winslet win Best Supporting Actress, I am leaning more towards Rooney Mara, only because I think Carol is underrated. This film is controversial and it's not often that you see award shows like the Academy Awards take risks. That needs to be changed. Let's cross all of our fingers and toes in hopes that the powers that be choose the winners wisely and that I will be able to get at least one half-decent beauty sleep before the big night. Please take as long as you need to finish gazing into Leo's eyes, but make sure you stick around to read about his sweet new nomination (and the rest of the Oscar nominations).
Life just got real a few hours ago when the nominees for the 2016 Academy Awards were announced. These are the nominations that count -- the other award shows are for children (looking at you Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill). There will be another article that goes into specific details published later on, but I thought I'd share with you the full list of nominees in case you haven't see them yet (courtesy of Variety): Performance by an actor in a leading role
Who are you rooting for? Any snubs that you picked up on? Comment below or tweet me @MissSaverinaS! If you've read any one of my million bios, there's one thing that remains consistent... Recognizing my horrible Snickers addiction. And when I say horrible, I mean as horrible as earth exploding right now at this very second. Okay, maybe not that horrible, but I definitely have a problem.
I feel like we all have something that throws us off our path to success, especially when it comes to making healthier choices. All chocolate, ice cream and chips have given #SavsFitJourney no choice but to take a detour. I am not afraid to admit to you that I have been putting crap in my body. I am human for crying out loud -- we all do it! I start out great. Smoothie (blueberries, kale, spinach and almond milk) for breakfast, turkey wrap for lunch, and then whatever my mom makes for dinner (pasta or fish/meat with veggies). It's when the clock strikes 9pm and later when all hell breaks loose in the snacking department. I'll eat whatever I can get my hands on and always try to make myself not regret it by thinking that if I am fine as long as I keep my workout routine up. Well, that's not actually the case. When you put crap in your body, you feel like crap. End of story. It's been a struggle for me to eat healthy and keep active at the same time. It's usually one or the other and I am hoping to change that through #SavsFitJourney. So now you've heard about my struggles, and I would love to hear about what keep you from achieving your health and fitness goals. Comment below, tweet me @MissSaverinaS, or if you don't feel comfortable sharing publicly, send me an email. Looking forward to continuing the journey with all of you. In addition to the Golden Globes recap that was posted on here yesterday, I wrote an exclusive one that was published in The Huffington Post this morning.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Funny (And Not So Funny) Moments From The 2016 Golden Globes Lord Jesus. I need a minute to catch my breath. So many WTF moments, I lost count after 10. The night of the 2016 Golden Globes was a night to remember for both its funny and not so funny moments. If you are politically correct, I think it would have been in your best interest to sit that show out – especially with Ricky Gervais taking the reigns. Affleck, the trans community, NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association were only some of the targets of the funny guy’s jokes. Some I got, and some… Well… See for yourself. Here are a few of the things that came out of Ricky Gervais’ mouth: “I’ve changed… Not as much as Bruce Jenner of course.” “She didn’t do a lot for women drivers but you can’t have everything.” (on Caitlyn Jenner) “The only person Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to.” (on Matt Damon) This list goes on. Politically correct or not, at some point while watching the Globes you questioned your morals. ‘Should I be laughing about this?’ was one question that came to mind every time I set my eyes on Ricky Gervais on my TV screen. Frankly, I think that often because we live in a world where we can’t just enjoy our lives. We have to watch all of our p’s and q’s. I have a pretty good sense of humor, if I do say so myself, but part of me felt that everyone was trying way too hard. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum acted like they were two kids that accidentally made their way into The Beverly Hilton (obviously in Beverly Hills, duh). Jonah pretended to be the bear from The Revenant (will from this point on be referred to as Leo’s movie) sporting a bear mask. Now before I continue, I want to mention that Tatum’s hair made headlines across the globe. I hate it. Okay, back to the bear. Or Jonah. What were we talking about? Oh, right – the rich and famous trying too hard. Andy Samberg was the next one to do damage and it’s his job to make people laugh! He cracked a lil’ something about Cosby and that’s the end of that. And then there was Jamie Foxx. I feel if something’s done at one award show, it shouldn’t be done ever again. Like ever. The People’s Choice Awards took a shot at Steve Harvey’s infamous Miss Universe mess-up, and the Golden Globes followed suit. I will admit that I chuckled a bit, but the joke and story are old. Move on peeps. I don’t care if you think that non-nominated Straight Outta Compton should have won the Globe for Best Original Score (in case you are taking this whole sentence seriously, don’t). That’s all for the “funny”, but I feel the need to leave you with one of my favorite moments of the night. LEO won! I repeat: Leo flipping DiCaprio won! Next, he’s going to get himself an Oscar – no ifs, ands, or buts. Okay. I’m done babbling. Saverina out. UPDATE: Bruno Mars and The Weeknd will also be performing.
________________________________________________________The countdown is on! The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is quickly approaching (it will air on Dec. 5 on CBS) so these next few weeks will be full of announcements. Last week, we learned who would be modelling the gorgeous lingerie - Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, and Jasmine Tookes, who will be the lucky one sporting the $3 million Fantasy Bra. Today, we learned that Lady Gaga will be one of the performers. This woman is on fire (again) as she will also be doing the Super Bowl halftime show early next year and her latest album has been a hit. I am excited to see her do her thing on the catwalk (I can't even begin to imagine what she'll wear) and see who else will be performing at the show which will be held in Paris for the first time. I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned this in the past, but I'll say it again. Every year when I watch the VS Fashion Show, I enjoy a bag of Doritos and wish I looked like the women on my TV. I don't know why we're all so obsessed with this show and these girls, but I don't want it to stop. |
